Congress offers a Gator-aid

Chomp

A post-inaugural Congress, inspired by the words of President Obama, resolved to really get down to business Wednesday, committing to change America. How you ask? By passing a bill to commend the Florida Gators football team.

Rep. Cliff Stearns, R-Fla., acting for the Florida delegation earlier this month, introduced House Resolution 58 “commending the University of Florida Gators for winning the Bowl Championship Series National Championship Game.”

So riveted was the House on Wednesday that they could only sit in reverent silence as Stearns argued on behalf of the monumental.

He lauded Heisman winner Tim Tebow as “the best dual threat quarterback in college football by finishing with 231 passing yards and 109 yards of rushing, the third highest ground total by a quarterback in a BCS title game.”

With stats this stunning, maybe Tebow should be in charge of appropriating funds from our economic stimulus package.
