Vince Young impostor reaches out to the Examiner

On Sept. 11, Yeas & Nays published a report saying that Philadelphia Eagles’ backup quarterback Vince Young was hanging out at L2 Lounge in Georgetown on the previous Friday. Club sources told us he was sporting a fedora and hanging out with boxer Riddick Bowe and local model Jana Sedlakova, who was celebrating her birthday and was photographed with “Young.” However, on Monday it has come to our attention that this was just another appearance by an impostor whose been trying to scam people in D.C. and Philadelphia.

The real Vince Young put out a statement Monday trying to bring attention to the con. “I heard that he has been taking money, taking pictures with little kids at hospitals,” Young told news outlets. “It’s been real sick.” Denise White, the CEO of EAG Sports Management, which represents Young, confirmed that her client was not at L2 that night. She explained that the gentleman in the picture had been collecting money for appearances as the Eagles’ player since June.

Before the real Vince Young came forward, we suspected that something fishy was going on when a man, again claiming to be Young, reached out to editors at the Washington Examiner early Monday morning asking that the posting and picture be removed from the website. When Yeas & Nays got in touch with him (he was using a number with an area code of 202, another red flag), he politely explained that the article was merely a “conflict of interest” because he was supposed to collect a fee from another club that night and was in trouble for briefly stopping by L2. When we called back for follow-up, upon learning of the scam, the Cricket phone number was no longer in service.

White told Yeas & Nays that NFL security was scheduled to meet with an official from Prince George’s County Police Monday night. “They are trying to get this guy behind bars,” she wrote in an email.
