D.C. Metro to boost security after Brussels attacks

The Metro in Washington, D.C., will place additional patrols Tuesday following the deadly terror attacks in Brussels.

Metro Transit Police said in a tweet Tuesday morning there is no “known, specific or credible threat” to the D.C. subway system at this time, but “additional K9 sweeps and patrols” will be added “as precaution.”

The death toll from the three attacks attacks — reportedly by suicide bombers — on a subway station and airport in Brussels has left at least 26 dead and more than 130 wounded. Public transportation across Brussels is now shut down.

Metro officials said it closely monitoring the Brussels situation with its federal partners and reminded Metro riders to report any suspicious activity.
