Giuliani to hit the stump for Trump

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Wednesday that he plans to play a “more objective role” in negotiating with Republicans to get behind Donald Trump’s campaign.

In an interview on the “Kilmeade and Friends” radio show, Giuliani revealed for the first time he plans to stump for the Manhattan billionaire. While he had endorsed Trump just before New York’s primary, Giuliani had previously indicated that he would not participate in Trump’s campaign.

While staying “somewhat distant” from Trump’s campaign, Giuliani said, “I can play a more objective role with some of my good Republican friends, who I’m very close to but who seem to want to play this ‘Never Trump, Nothing But Trump.’ I think I’m persuading a few of them to come along.” He said he can see why outspoken critics of Trump, like Sen. John McCain and Lindsey Graham, might oppose Trump, but said he would try and convince them to come around.

The former mayor said his change of heart is due in part because he has begun to see some positive changes in Trump within the last two weeks, which includes and vamped up staff and a different tone, with fewer insults and a more “reasonable” and “sensible” personality. On whether he would actually stump for Trump in the future, Giuliani said, “You’re gonna see that happen too. That’s all in good time. That’s all gonna happen.”
