Christie: Kasich mailer ‘sounds like Satan’

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie thinks Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s presidential campaign is much more sinister than he has led voters to believe.

Kasich has begun referring to himself as “the prince of light and hope” as compared to his GOP opponents, but Christie said Kasich’s tactics remind him of a darker power. When asked about Kasich supporters’ mailers that attack Christie, the New Jersey governor told Fox News that Kasich is no angel.

“John, that sounds a heck of a lot more like Satan than the prince of light and hope,” Christie said. “Listen, I’ve known John for a long, and I’ve been around when his colleagues talk about him. I’ve heard John called a lot of things; the ‘prince of light and hope’ has never been one of them. The fact is John wants to hide. He wants to let the super PAC, who’s running most of his campaign in New Hampshire, do all his dirty work and he wants to come out and act like he’s some angel.”

When pressed about his own super PAC, Christie responded that his supporters have been “relentlessly positive,” especially as compared to Kasich.

Christie and Kasich are competing vigorously in New Hampshire where each candidate may need a victory or strong showing to gain the momentum necessary to keep their campaign alive. Kasich ranks fourth in the Washington Examiner‘s most recent GOP presidential power rankings. Christie ranks fifth.
