Texas Southern University in southeast Houston is on lockdown after two people were shot at an apartment complex.
According to TSU officials, the shooter remains on the loose. The shooting happened at around 11:30 a.m. Central time at the Courtyard Apartments.
Students have been ordered to remain in their classrooms, and staffers were told to stay in their offices. TSU announced classes would be cancelled for the day around 12:30 p.m. local time.
No other information was available other than the Houston Fire Department sent several medical units to the scene.
According to the Houston Chronicle, this is the third shooting in recent weeks on or near the TSU campus. TSU is a historically black university founded in 1927 that enrolls around 9,000.
This is Friday’s second school shooting. Another one took place at Northern Arizona University early Friday morning that left one dead and three others injured.
