The Bob Woodruff Foundation’s Stand Up for Heroes event has been a fun-filled night held in New York City for the troops for the past four years. But this year, Bob Woodruff and his wife Lee are bringing the laughs to the District, with plans to move the dinner annually to areas with a high military population.
On June 16, more than 800 are expected to gather at the Ronald Reagan Building for an evening of comedy and music starring “The Daily Show’s” Jon Stewart as the emcee and the Grammy-Award winning band Train as the soundtrack. Prominent journalists, including Bob Woodward, Martha Raddatz and Judy Woodruff are expected to attend the fundraiser, which will raise money for the Bob Woodruff Foundation, a group that helps injured service members return to a supportive home.
Woodruff sustained serious injuries while reporting in Iraq for ABC News back in 2006. He and his family have been active in troop rehabilitation issues ever since.
