A new poll shows Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio statistically tied in Texas, and separated by just four percentage points, within the poll’s 4.6 percent margin of error.
Cruz leads the Emerson College poll with the support of 29 percent of likely primary voters, followed by Trump at 28 percent, and Rubio at 25 percent.

“Of the three GOP leaders, Rubio is seen most positively, with 64 percent of likely GOP primary voters rating him favorably compared to 29 percent who view him unfavorably,” a release from Emerson explained. “As the GOP candidates continue to argue over each other’s honesty, 37 percent of survey respondents said Cruz is the candidate who has been least honest about his own record and that of his Republican rivals. Trump is a close second for ‘least honest,’ chosen by 35 percent.”
The Lone Star State’s primary is one week away, and the Cruz campaign has described it as a must-win state before walking back some of its predictions.
On the Democratic side of the aisle, Hillary Clinton holds a 16-point lead over socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, 56-40, bolstered by support from women and elderly voters.
The Emerson College poll surveyed 446 likely GOP primary voters and 328 likely Democratic primary voters from Feb. 21-23. The Democratic survey had a 5.4 percentage point margin of error. The poll was conducted using an interactive voice response system of landline phones.
