Texas Sen. Ted Cruz told reporters he thinks Hillary Clinton may lose New York’s Democratic primary.
Asked whether Sen. Bernie Sanders could beat Clinton in her adopted home state, Cruz responded, “Oh sure,” but noted that he’s not an expert on Democratic politics.

“If it ends up being Bernie or Hillary, I look forward to beating whichever socialist wins the Democratic nomination,” Cruz said. “My disagreement with Bernie has never been his heart. My disagreement with Bernie is about his policies. I think Bernie is an honest socialist.”
The Texas senator continued to explain that he agrees with Sanders that Washington is corrupt, but disagrees about the appropriate solution. Cruz argued that he supports taking power out of Washington and returning it to the states, while Sanders would like to see more power reside in the nation’s capitol.
Cruz suggested his agreement with Sanders may explain “why I am beating Hillary Clinton with young people by double digits — because I think people are tired of corruption in Washington.”
Cruz is campaigning in New York on Friday and will hold a rally in Rochester in the evening.
