Photos are making the rounds on Twitter showing Sen. Mary Landrieu helping a Louisiana State University student manage a “keg stand” before a football game on Saturday.
Landrieu — a Democrat who is about five points behind her Republican opponent, Rep. Bill Cassidy, in the latest Pelican State polling — was at an LSU tailgating party ahead of Saturday’s game in Baton Rouge with Mississippi State.
Landrieu can be seen in more than one photo holding the tap for a man doing a stand on the keg.
Republican operatives wasted no time using social media to blast out the picture, augmented with their own commentary.
“*Another* photo of Keg stand Senator Mary Landrieu holding the tap for a student to chug beer,” Brad Dayspring, a strategist for the NRSC, formerly known as the National Republican Senatorial Committee, the campaign arm of the Senate GOP.
Dayspring added in another tweet, “Bright side: Mary Landrieu will have plenty of time after losing her seat to help students binge drink.”

The Landrieu campaign has not responded to a request for a comment from the Washington Examiner.
According to Mother Jones, which sent a reporter to the event, tailgaters persuaded Landrieu to join in on a keg stand, a common drinking game at pre-game tailgating parties.
Mother Jones reported that Landrieu refused to do one herself, but helped pour beer in the mouth of a man who was doing a keg stand.
LSU’s Tigers lost to Mississippi State’s Bulldogs, 34-29.
