There may be a new Republican presidential candidate: Dr. Ben Carson.
The country should expect to see Carson — author, neurosurgeon and conservative favorite — running for GOP ticket in 2016, he said on the Hugh Hewitt Show Monday night.
“Unless the American people indicate in November that they like Big Government intervention in every part of their lives, I think the likelihood is strong,” Carson said of his potential run.
Carson received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from former President George W. Bush in 2008 before giving a speech at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast that catapulted him into the political spotlight.
“I will never be a politician,” Carson, who has never served in public office, said to Hewitt.
Carson said he is waiting a “few more months,” and will make an official decision before next May.
In August, the National Draft Ben Carson for President Committee recorded its 100,000th unique donation.
A RealClearPolitics average of polls does not list Carson as a potential candidate.
