Hillary Clinton leads all presidential candidates in donations from business chief executive officers.
Over 760 people who have given to the Clinton campaign listed their occupations as either “CEO” or similar. That is more than the amount Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio have received combined, according to CNBC.
It bears mentioning that although Hillary is the top choice of the most individual CEOs, Jeb Bush’s CEO fans are apparently more enthusiasic.
Bush CEO contributors have given far more on average, making his total haul from business leaders considerably larger than Clinton’s, when taking into account his super PAC fundraising, a lynchpin of the Bush financial strategy.
Bush has over $15 million from 550 CEOs, while Clinton has raised about $4 million from approximately 760 CEOs.
Either Rubio or Cruz came in third, depending on which figure is used. Cruz’s total haul was larger — about $3.5 million — while Rubio had more individual CEO contributors, but substantially less total fundraising in this area. Cruz got most of his CEO haul from an individual contribution — $2.5 from Daniel Wilks to Cruz’s Keep The Promise III PAC.
Interestingly, Bernie Sanders has actually raised more money from more CEOs than Donald Trump. Trump has pledged not to do any fundraising, though it appears he has done some low-level fundraising.
