Trump rally tickets going for $500 on Craigslist

Tickets for Donald Trump’s sold-out rally in Burlington, Vt., are selling on Craigslist for as much as $500.

According to local police, the Republican presidential front-runner’s campaign distributed more than 20,000 free tickets to the Thursday night rally despite the venue having a maximum capacity of 1,411 people.

In the days leading up to the event, several individuals began advertising tickets for purchase from $20 to $500.

“If you have free tickets to listen to Donald Trump on the 7th and plan to not attend, I would like your ticket,” read one post from a user who claimed they do not support Trump, but “would still like to hear what the man has to say.”

While people are willing to shell out hundreds of dollars to see Trump, it seems clear that most people who hold a ticket won’t be able to get inside the venue.

“I was offered $75, but before I could cash in the Trump campaign made tickets available — apparently some 20,000 tickets for a venue with a capacity of 1,400,” another user, who ambitiously priced two tickets at $500, told the Washington Examiner.

Another Craigslist ad pointed out the obvious: the oversold event will force ticket-holders to arrive several hours early in order to secure one of the 1,411 spots available, leaving most of the 20,000 tickets to go to waste.

On Wednesday, Trump urged his supporters to arrive early if they wish to see him in person.

Thursday night marks the first time Trump has held one of his signature campaign rallies in the Green Mountain State, which is home to socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, one of the billionaire’s Democratic opponents.
