Bernie Sanders won the Idaho caucuses on Tuesday, beating Hillary Clinton in a state neither candidate spent much time campaigning.
Following her five-primary-sweep last week, the Clinton campaign admitted that they did not expect to win Idaho, a state she lost to Barack Obama in 2008. So in the days leading up to the vote the former secretary of state spent no time in the state and put no money into ads.
By contrast, Sanders spent $352,000 in advertisements in the state and made several campaign stops in Idaho the past few days. At a rally in Idaho Falls last Friday the Sanders campaign reportedly attracted over 3,200 people.
Sanders won 78 percent of the vote to Clinton’s 21 percent.
