Yes, President Obama once wore dad jeans, and he’s also awkwardly tucked in his t-shirt to play basketball, but a little fashion faux pas here and there hasn’t seemed to hurt the president’s popularity with New York City’s most fashionable.
The POTUS is scheduled to travel to New York City Tuesday to attend a fundraiser hosted by Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour and actress Scarlett Johansson. Since the affair was first announced, the list of big name designers and Big Apple celebrities hosting the event has expanded. Sean “Diddy” Combs, Prabal Gurung, Thakoon Panichgul, Vera Wang and Diane Von Furstenberg have now all signed on, along with a smattering of other fashion greats, according to the Sunlight Foundation’s Party Time blog.
The New York Post’s Page Six reported earlier that Beyonce and Tina Knowles would attend, along with Tory Burch, Narciso Rodriguez, Alexander Wang, Tracy Reese and Rachel Roy, among others.
Designers have crafted custom Obama clothing and accessories for the event, which will be held at Theory in the NYC’s Meatpacking District.
