Members of Congress sure love sports bets. With Monday night’s World Series win by the San Francisco Giants, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., immediately took to Twitter to claim her prize.”Looking forward to my pecan pie from @RepJoeBarton,” she tweeted.
Pelosi had bet both Texas Rep. Joe Barton and Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter during the playoffs and, had she lost, would have owed them Ghirardelli chocolates.
“As the winner of friendly wagers with Senator Specter and Congressman Barton, I look forward to enjoying Pennsylvania’s finest Hershey chocolate and delicious pecan pie from Texas,” Pelosi said in a release.
As of Tuesday, pie delivery details were still sketchy, with Pelosi spokesman Brendan Daly saying the pies would be brought to Pelosi “soon.” He didn’t know how many Barton planned to send.
“I think we will leave it up to him,” Daly said.
