The watch that “makes a Rolex look like a Swatch” really makes a Swatch look good compared with the knockoff Patek Philippe that Tareq and Michaele Salahi handed over for the $2,000 they owed to a landscaper.
According to the Warren County Report, Ray Cosey of R.E. Jewelers Watch & Clock in Chambersburg, Pa., appraised the timepiece.
Just as we thought, the watch is as real as the Salahis’ invitation to the state dinner. “You can buy them on the streets of New York for a little bit of nothing,” Cosey told reporter Dan McDermott.
A genuine Patek Philippe can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, while the Salahis’ imitation is worth $100 at best, according to court documents.
The Salahis delivered a check to the landscaper’s attorney Tuesday in exchange for their prized possession.
