A super PAC supporting Jeb Bush’s presidential campaign is going on the offensive.
Right to Rise USA, the super political action committee that boasted a $100 million war chest, takes aim at rival Republican presidential candidates Donald Trump, and Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Marco Rubio of Florida in a new ad.
“When the attacks come here, the person behind this desk will have to protect your family,” a narrator says as footage of the Oval Office plays. “Will he be impulsive and reckless like Donald Trump? Will he have voted to dramatically weaken counter-terrorism surveillance like Ted Cruz? Will he have skipped crucial national security hearings and votes just to campaign, like Marco Rubio?”
The ad then touts the admirals and generals who support Bush’s presidential campaign before arguing, “Jeb has the experience and knowledge to protect your family.”
The ad, titled “Desk,” will reportedly run in each of the four early nominating states of Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada. The attack comes on the heels of Bush’s criticism that Trump is “unhinged” for proposing to prevent Muslims from entering the United States.
Before the release of the pro-Bush super PAC’s newest ad, the Sunlight Foundation reported that the Bush campaign spent $39 million in independent expenditures as of Dec. 4.
But the abundance of cash does not seem to have helped the governor’s poll numbers. Bush, who ranks fifth in the Washington Examiner‘s newest GOP presidential power rankings, polls under 4 percent nationwide in RealClearPolitics’ average of polls. The three rivals attacked by the pro-Bush super PAC—Trump, Cruz, and Rubio—all rake in double-digit percentage point support in the same national average.
