New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said the neighbors of the terrorists behind the San Bernardino shooting should have informed law enforcement and that such an action wouldn’t be racial profiling.
“What those folks knew was that these folks had weapons and were talking about trying to take our country and attack it. That’s not profiling,” the New Jersey governor said during the Fox News Republican debate in Des Moines.
Christie was immediately challenged by Fox News moderator Megyn Kelly, who said that the neighbors of the two shooters saw men going in and out of a garage and saw Muslims and “didn’t think that was enough to call the cops.”
Christie shot back that it wasn’t for them to decide whether something bad was going on concerning the married couple Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik.
“I think what people should do is us their common sense and make law enforcement make those decisions,” he responded.
Christie immediately pivoted to supporting law enforcement.
“Obama has made law enforcement the enemy, making anybody nervous to get out of their cars,” the governor noted.
Christie is currently sixth in the Washington Examiner‘s presidential power rankings.
