President Obama will make a trip to Oregon Friday to make closed-door visits with the families of the victims of last week’s shooting at a community college, according to reports.
Chris Harper Mercer, 26, was the gunman who took the lives of nine students and injured nine others before taking his own life, according to authorities.
The president was already scheduled to be flying to Washington and California on Friday through the weekend for an assortment of events with the Democratic party.
Last week after the shooting took place, the president repeated his call for gun control.
“There’s been another mass shooting in America,” Obama said. “That means more American families, more moms, dads, children, whose lives have been changed forever. That means there’s another community stunned with grief.”
“Somehow this has become routine,” he said. “We’ve become numb to this.”
