Gov. Scott Walker is talking like he’s running for president in 2016.
“Not only do I care about this great state, I care about this country,” the Wisconsin Republican said on Fox News Tuesday when asked if he will soon make a decision on running for the GOP nomination.
The statement was similar to his recent remarks on “Meet the Press.”
“Certainly I care deeply about my state and my country … we’ll see what the future holds,” Walker said on Sunday morning.
The Republican Wisconsin governor also took a shot at Hillary Clinton, the clear frontrunner for the Democratic presidential ticket, by calling her approach to government both “old” and “tired.”
“She embodies Washington. She embodies that old, tired top-down approach from the government. I think in the states as governors, we offer a much better alternative and I think there’s a number of us who would be good prospects out there,” he said, when discussing last week’s midterm elections results.
Walker also downplayed any tension between himself and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
“In the end, Chris and I are good friends,” Walker said. “He came in a week out and campaigned with me. The RGA played strong in my race. The difference was there’s just a lot more money than anybody ever expected from the unions.”
Walker and Christie could potentially be rivals in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
Christie is polling fourth, while Walker is polling ninth, in a RealClearPolitics average of polls. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul is leading the pack.
