Body of former White House chef found

The body of the White House’s executive chef from 1994 to 2005 was found Sunday in New Mexico.

Walter Scheib, who served under Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, was reported missing by a family member after he left for a solo hike in Taos, N.M., on June 13.

Scheib was personally hired by Hillary Clinton, the leading Democratic candidate running for the White House in 2016.

Investigators tracked his cellphone signal to a mountain in Taos on Thursday, according to a press release from the New Mexico State Department of Public Safety. His body was found approximately 1.7 miles from the base of a hiking trail, near where his car was parked at the Yerba Canyon Trailhead.

Scheib, 61, wrote about his experience making meals in the White House for numerous world leaders in his 2007 book White House Chef: Eleven Years, Two Presidents, One Kitchen.
