President Trump will attend a private dinner Wednesday night in Washington, hosted by America First Action, a pro-Trump super PAC. Also attending the dinner, which is listed on the president’s official schedule as an event “with supporters,” is House majority leader Kevin McCarthy, the White House confirms.
Republican strategist Jeff Miller, who has close ties to McCarthy, is helping raise funds for the group, although a spokesperson for the PAC says the Wednesday event is not a fundraiser. “These events are not fundraisers for America First Action or any other entity. We ensure that our activities at all times remain in full compliance with the law and ethics rules,” said Erin Montgomery, communications director for America First Action.
According to federal filing forms, America First Action raised more than $3.7 million in 2018.
