Former President Bill Clinton put his name behind a fundraising solicitation email for Wednesday as Donald Trump reminded people of his White House infidelity.
In the email, the former president urged supporters to donate before Thursday’s midnight deadline, which marks the end of the fundraising quarter, writing that the deadline is an “important test” for the campaign itself.
Later on, Clinton asked supporters to chip in $1 before the deadline.
The email itself came only hours after Trump continued his air assault on the former president and the 2016 Democratic front-runner. During a campaign rally in Hilton Head, S.C., Trump called the 42nd president a “great abuser of women,” pointing to past incidents involving Monica Lewinsky and Paula Jones. Trump also told reporters on his private jet Tuesday that the former president’s past is “fair game.”
Trump also argued during his speech that he silenced the Clintons with his continued remarks, saying that the former secretary of state gave a speech recently and “didn’t even mention my name.”
“For the last week she’s been hitting me really hard with the women card and I had to say, OK that’s enough. And we did a strong number,” Trump told the crowd.
“[Clinton is] always so theatrical — ‘Mr. Trump said this and that and this.’ I just have to turn off the television. She gives me a headache,” Trump said, adding that, “I think last night I gave her a big headache.”
The fundraising pitch also came after reports that the former president is set to hit the campaign trail for his wife in January.
