Donald Trump asked Saturday if President Obama would have missed Antonin Scalia’s funeral if it been held at a mosque.
“I wonder if President Obama would have attended the funeral of Justice Scalia if it were held in a Mosque?” Trump tweeted. “Very sad that he did not go!”
The Republican front-runner’s tweet faulted Obama’s decision to skip Scalia’s funeral, though Obama attended the viewing at the Supreme Court Friday. Trump was also taking aim at the president’s visit this month to a Baltimore mosque.
Trump’s mosque tweet came the morning of the South Carolina primary, where Trump still leads in most polls, though some released Friday showed a gain by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who has the support of much of the South Carolina Republican establishment, including Sen. Tim Scott and Gov. Nikki Haley.
Trump went after Rubio soon after his Scalia tweet.
“Remember that Marco Rubio is very weak on illegal immigration. South Carolina needs strength as illegals and Syrians pour in. Don’t allow it,” Trump tweeted.
