Brussels update: Death toll climbs to 35

Last week’s terrorist attack in Brussels has claimed four more lives, bringing total number of people killed to 35.

Belgian Health Minister Maggie De Block announced Monday on her Twitter account that four of those wounded in the attack had died, according to the Associated Press.

“Four patients deceased in hospital. Medical teams did all possible. Total victims: 35. Courage to all the families,” she wrote.

Over the weekend, the State Department also confirmed that two more Americans were identified as victims of the attack. Four American citizens were killed in the attack, and about a dozen other Americans were wounded.

Belgium’s Federal Police has released a 32-second video online that shows a man that police say is suspected of taking part in the deadly March 22 terror attacks.

“The police are seeking to identify this man,” the police site says, but did not add any other information.

Belgian prosecutors also said they are holding three people on charges of participating in terrorist group activities. Those people are among four detained during Sunday searches in Brussels and the northern cities of Mechelen and Duffel. However, one suspect was released without charge, according to a statement from the Belgian Federal Prosecutor’s Office, no details have been released on the alleged activities of the other three, or if they are linked to the bombings.

Two suicide bombers blew themselves up last week at Brussels airport and in the Brussels subway, acts that injured 270 people. The Islamic State has since claimed responsibility for the attack.
