As concerns mount about Hillary Clinton, the movement to lure Joe Biden into the presidential race continues to up its efforts.
On Thursday, Biden supporters touted polls showing the vice president outperforming the current Democratic front-runner in key swing states. The Draft Biden team continues to staff up, announcing Wednesday that Florida Democratic strategist Steve Schale was coming on board. Schale was state director for Barack Obama in 2008.
“Like many Americans, I hope the vice president will make the decision to seek the presidency, and I am honored to join a team that is actively working to build a foundation for him to hit the ground running, should he ultimately decide to enter the race,” Schale said in a statement.
“Steve is one of the pre-eminent political strategists, not just in Florida, but in the country,” Draft Biden super PAC senior adviser Josh Alcorn said in a statement. “We are elated to have him pitching in.”
Biden received a boost in the polls too. The most recent Quinnipac surveys show Biden outperforming Clinton when matched against Republican opponents in Pennsylvania, Florida and Ohio. In each of the states, she was near 50 percent unfavorable.
“The Vice President’s strength in these polls shows there is a desire to have him on the stage for the Democratic debate in October,” Alcorn said in a statement. “Americans trust him to offer an alternative vision for our country.”
While there has yet to be any indication that Biden has decided to run, he has reportedly talked over a bid with loyal supporters.
