Washington Post reporter Ceci Connolly is in hot water again over her party preferences.
The New York Times said Connolly had to back out of attending a big book party thrown in her honor by a Democratic communications firm for her new hardcover on President Obama’s crusade for health care legislation. Though the Post’s top reporter on the Obamacare beat didn’t show, she’s getting flak for it, especially because she was one of the writers to be featured in the controversial off-the-record “salons” the Post planned to hold last year at which invitees could pay for access to reporters and invited guests from the Obama inner circle. The event was canceled once word got out, but it gave the paper a major PR migraine.
Book party host Michael Meehan e-mailed partygoers letting them know Connolly would not attend the event sponsored by his firm, Blue Line Strategic Communications. Meehan recently was the top talker on Martha Coakley’s busted bid for Senate in Massachusetts and formerly worked for Sens. John Kerry, D-Mass., Tom Daschle, D-S.D., and Barbara Boxer, D-Calif.
Connolly, Meehan and the Washington Post did not respond to calls from Yeas & Nays by press time.
