DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Campaign aides say Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan will visit eastern Iowa next week.
The Wisconsin congressman will headline a rally Monday at Loras College in Dubuque, then visit Clinton, the Davenport area and Muscatine on Tuesday.
It will be Ryan’s fifth trip to Iowa since being named GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s running mate.
President Barack Obama, Romney and groups that support them have spent more than $50 million on television advertising in Iowa, one of a handful of states the candidates have focused on aggressively.
However, polls have shown Obama, who carried Iowa in 2008, establishing a clear lead in the state, worth six Electoral College votes.
It will be the first time Ryan has campaigned in eastern Iowa. Vice President Joe Biden campaigned there last week.
