OXON HILL, Md. — President Trump’s favorite book, his own, was a hot commodity here Thursday at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference.
Dave Hemsath, who operates the event’s bookstore each year, only brought about 25 copies of Trump’s 1985 bestselling self-help book, Trump: The Art of the Deal, to his store Thursday morning. But the book was gone about an hour after his store opened.
“I just sold four in a row,” Hemsath said of The Art of the Deal.
Other Trump-authored books were also on display, including Great Again: How to Fix Our Crippled America (2015) and Time to Get Tough: Make America Great Again! (2011).
Trump and the conference have a rocky history. He has given a speech in recent years, including in 2011, when he was again flirting with a run for president. In 2015, however, in the heat of the Republican primary, Trump pulled out from the event, where many conservatives in attendance were hostile to his candidacy.
Trump is scheduled to speak at the conference Friday.
