The Capitol was put on lockdown Saturday after shots were fired near the building and authorities were alerted of a suspicious package, according to the Associated Press.
The AP reports that a suicide is also suspected to have taken place in relation to the incident.

Congress is currently in recess and lawmakers are to resume work on Monday.
“The suspected shooter has been neutralized but the U.S. Capitol Building has been locked down as a precautionary measure,” said Capitol Hill police spokesman Kimberly Schneider in a statement.
