A super PAC supporting Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz has dumped $500,000 into radio spots, TV and digital ads in New York just days ahead of the April 19 primary.
Trusted Leadership PAC announced late Wednesday it will launch two TV ads in nine upstate markets, including Albany, Binghamton, Elmira, Olean, Poughkeepsie, Syracuse, Rochester, Utica-Rome and Watertown.
“It’s no secret New York is a left-leaning state, one where Donald Trump and John Kasich should have a significant stronghold. Yet Ted Cruz’s message of small government, ending Obamacare and protecting our country from terrorists ring true with Americans across the country,” Chip Roy, executive director of Trusted Leadership PAC, said in a statement.
One ad “Ready on Day One” features Cruz’s plan to protect the country from terrorism while “Kasich BFF” goes after Gov. John Kasich’s relationship with President Obama during the expansion of Medicaid in Ohio.
Cruz is ranked third among New York Republicans, according to a RealClearPolitics average. His campaign has focused much of its time over the past week rallying voters upstate, which it has said share the same conservative values as Wisconsin voters who gave Cruz a win last week in the state primary.
The radio spot “Record Not Rhetoric” will also launch Thursday in the Empire State.
