Carville: Clinton in for a ‘world of hurt’ if Sanders wins Iowa, N.H.

Democratic strategist James Carville thinks Hillary Clinton is in for a “world of hurt” if Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders beats her in the Iowa and New Hampshire early-voting contests.

In a fundraising email from the Clinton campaign, Carville said he was asked by a journalist what he thought the odds were that Sanders would win the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary in a few weeks.

“I told him I thought Bernie had a pretty good chance, and the host told me to put some numbers on it! So I told him: 43.258 percent,” Carville writes.

“He asked me if I was kidding around, but I am not! Bernie’s got a real shot at these first two contests, and if we don’t take that seriously, we’re in for a world of hurt,” Carville continued. “Hillary’s not taking anything for granted, and we can’t either.”

“Give ’em hell,” Carville signs off at the bottom of the email.

According to the RealClearPolitics average of polls, Sanders is right behind Clinton in Iowa (46.8 percent to 42.8 percent) and leads the former secretary of state in New Hampshire (48.8 percent to 42.6 percent).
