40 countries represented by Brussels’ victims

More than 40 countries were represented by the victims in Tuesday’s terrorist attacks in Brussels, according to a statement made late Friday by Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel.

“This is a preliminary number, the identification process is still going on and may take some time. We have one Peruvian, two Americans, one Briton, three Dutch, one Chinese and one French,” Belgian foreign ministry spokesman Didier Vanderhasselt added.

Officials are still working to identify the 31 people killed and 316 wounded in the explosions at Brussels Airport and the Maelbeek metro station. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the bombings.

Two Americans citizens were killed, according to a statement Secretary of State John Kerry made earlier Friday.
