Lauren Potter is looking for a man — on the small screen at least.
The twenty-year-old actress plays Becky Jackson, a cheerleader who acts as Sue Sylvester‘s assistant, who also has down syndrome, on the smash-hit “Glee.” Potter wouldn’t give us details on what to expect during the rest of the season, but said she wants her character to get into a relationship with one of the boys. As for beaus in Lauren’s off-screen life that’s another story. “I’d rather not talk about it,” the actress said.
Potter joined a packed room of people Tuesday night for dinner and awards at the Reagan Building for the annual American Association of People with Disabilities Gala. Also in attendance were Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wisc., and his wife Cheryl, who together won the Spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act Award. Like Potter, Cheryl’s sister has Down Syndrome and Cheryl said it has only brought joy to her life. “The only bad thing was that since I am 20 years older, people would think I was her mother and my mom was her grandmother — that was always making my mom mad!”
Potter also took a trip to Capitol Hill Wednesday to discuss a report that examines bullying of children with special needs. The event was held with Reps. Jackie Speier, D-Calif., and Cathy McMorris Rodgers. R-Wash.
