KFC legend Colonel Sanders spotted at Trump rally

Kentucky Fried Chicken founder Colonel Harland Sanders traveled a long way from his old Kentucky home to attend a Donald Trump rally in Kansas Saturday morning.

Though the beloved founder of the fried chicken fast food joint died in 1980, a look-alike was spotted in the audience of a 9 a.m. Trump event in Wichita, approximately 500 miles from Kentucky’s most western edge.

The real Sanders was appointed colonel by the Commonwealth of Kentucky in 1950 for the individual contributions he had made to the community as a businessman.

A year later, Sanders ran for public office as a Republican. His bid for state Senate failed and he turned away from politics.

Sanders went out to create a fried chicken empire that went beyond the Bluegrass State’s borders to become an international establishment, bringing in $23 billion in revenue in 2013. The colonel is remembered for his crisp white suit that matched his white facial hair.

Kansas and Kentucky are both holding primary and caucus events Saturday.
