Donald Trump has gained 4 points to reach a new high among Republican votes in a new national poll.

According to a new NBC News | Survey Monkey national weekly tracking poll, the GOP presidential front-runner has the support of 40 percent of registered Republicans.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio was able to add 5 points since the last Republican debate, but his 21 percent still sits at roughly half the level of Trump’s support.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz received 18 percent in the poll. That’s down 1 point from the prior poll, and is the lowest level Cruz has seen so far.

Ben Carson got 8 percent, while Ohio Gov. John Kasich got 7 percent.

Trump is also the candidate GOP voters overwhelmingly believe will win their party’s nomination. The poll shows that 71 percent are predicting that the billionaire businessman will be the Republican nominee, up 15 points from last week’s poll. Rubio ranks second with 12 percent, followed by Cruz at 10 percent, Carson at 2 percent, and Kasich at 1 percent.

The poll of 8,759 registered Republican voters was conducted Feb. 22-28 and carries a margin of error of plus or minus 1.8 percentage points.
