Two Navy fighters crash in Pacific

Navy ships were searching the waters of the western Pacific Ocean on Friday for a missing pilot after two Navy F/A-18 fighter jets crashed while conducting flight operations, the Navy said.

One of the pilots was immediately recovered and given medical attention after the crash, but the other pilot remained missing, the Seventh Fleet headquarters said. Both aircraft remained missing.

Navy ships and helicopters were searching an area around the crash site to find the missing pilot, and investigators were working to discover the cause of the crash, a statement from the Seventh Fleet headquarters said.
