Paul Wharton reexamines ‘D.C. Housewives’ on new show

Television personality and quasi-“Real D.C. Housewife” Paul Wharton is ready to start something new, debuting his new local TV show “Paul Wharton Style” Sunday at noon, but not before he ties up some unfinished business from his past.

He decided that he wanted the first episode of his DC50TV show to be another “Real Housewives of D.C.” reunion of sorts, gathering together three of the five Bravo Housewives, with Catherine Ommanney patching in from abroad. (An appearance by she-who-must-not-be-named was nixed). “I wanted to pay homage to it and say it was a great experience, but I’m going to close that chapter and I’m going to move on to my next,” Wharton told Yeas & Nays. “There were a few grudges that people were holding and they kind of came out.”

As for whether Wharton would work with Bravo again in the future, he said he is keeping that door open. “The only issue I have with Bravo is I don’t feel they pay their talent what their talent should be paid,” he said. “I don’t think it’s fair because the networks are making tons of money off these people that are opening the door to their lives and letting the cameras in, and you’re watching them crash and burn.” Which is why, Wharton says, he owns his new show. “I gotta look forward to my future,” he laughed.
