Pro-Cruz super PAC makes $573K ad buy in Nevada

A super PAC supporting Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign has made a $573,000 television ad buy in Nevada. The ads are part of the $2 million total that Keep the Promise, a group of Cruz super PACs, claims to have invested in the Silver State.

“The people of Nevada will get a firsthand look at Ted Cruz’s conservative record, where he has actually done the things he has said he will do and has worked to get the power out of Washington and bring it back to we the people,” said Kellyanne Conway, president of Keep the Promise I, in a statement. “Nevada is an important early state and we plan to use every avenue to reach the voters of the state so that they turn out for Senator Cruz.”

Keep the Promise also plans to distribute 100,000 mailers to Nevadan voters targeting Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. The mailers depict Rubio as a supporter of Democratic Sens. Harry Reid of Nevada and Chuck Schumer of New York, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The mail pieces spotlight Rubio’s positions on illegal immigration, cap-and-trade, military spending and foreign policy toward Libya.

The pro-Cruz super PAC also added Nathan Emens, a veteran of Silver State politics, with one week remaining until the Republican Nevada caucus.
