Shortly after being released from a two-night hospital stay triggered by a viral infection, former President Carter traveled from Cleveland, Ohio, to Washington, D.C., on Thursday to continue his tour for his new book “White House Diary.” A Yeas & Nays spy tells us that the Secret Service surrounded the Dupont Hotel where the ex-president was staying. Our spy also tells us that Carter celebrated his 86th birthday with dinner at the hotel on Thursday night. No details on who was invited or what they had to eat but we hear that he checked out of the hotel on Friday. Habitat for Humanity will honor Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, for their 27 years of service to the organization at a gala at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium on Monday evening.
