Documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock has stuffed himself with McDonald’s food, gotten advertisers to pay for a movie about advertising in movies (say that three times fast) and now, followed self-described comic book “nerds” around San Diego’s Comic-Con to bring us his newest feature “Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope.”
Spurlock, who travels to D.C. next week for opening day screenings, thinks it’s the perfect film for Washington’s buttoned up set. “[Washington is] filled with people who don’t want to admit they have all their inner geek stuff,” Spurlock told Yeas & Nays. “Everyone’s going to love this film because quietly and inside they’re going to be like, I have a collection of toys, I have that T-shirt, I have those comics, I play that video game when nobody is around.”

And political types can also relate because they know a thing or two about conventions. “They have a different uniform, it’s much more of a blue shirt, khaki uniform at the [Republican or Democratic] convention, versus, you know, maybe some Spock ears and a lightsaber, but I think if somebody could go to the DNC or RNC with Spock ears and a lightsaber they would.”
Spurlock will be attending audience Q&As at the West End Cinema on Friday.
