A group founded by David Brock, a known Hillary Clinton ally, has filed three ethics complaints charging that Bernie Sanders and his campaign are violating Federal Election Commission rules.
The complaints from the American Democracy Legal Fund are against Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign and two allied outside groups.
One complaint alleges the Sanders campaign violated FEC rules by accepting contributions in excess of the legal amount ($2,700 per election). Another says the campaign failed to include a required disclaimer on a Facebook page soliciting political donations. The third complaint alleges that a pro-Sanders super PAC has been using an illegal name, “People For Bernie,” and is illegally coordinating with the campaign.
The Sanders campaign rejected the complaints from ADLF, which was founded by Brock in 2014. The group has always been used to fight Republicans, until now.
“Just one day after the Clinton campaign said we needed to change our tone, the leaders of their coordinated super PAC, which is funded by millions from Wall Street, filed baseless and frivolous complaints with the FEC. Tells you all you need to know,” Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver told MSNBC.
