A new political action committee aimed at mocking the hands of Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has been forced to change its name due to federal election laws.
Trump Has Tiny Hands PAC, founded last Monday by Portland, Ore., resident Henry Kraemer, violated election laws that prohibit outside groups from using a candidate’s name or likeness without their permission to do so.
“Your committee’s name includes the name of a candidate; however, your committee does not appear to be an authorized committee of that candidate,” the Federal Election Committee wrote Sunday in a letter to Kraemer.
According to FEC filings, Kraemer responded to the agency’s request by adjusting the PAC’s name just slightly to: Americans Against Insecure Billionaires with Tiny Hands PAC.
“Emerging like a phoenix from the ashes of Trump Has Tiny Hands PAC is Americans Against Insecure Billionaires with Tiny Hands PAC,” Kraemer told The Hill.
Kraemer also said the group’s mission is to educate “Americans about the grave dangers of Donald Trump’s unstable stubby baby fingers.”
Trump dismissed criticism of his hands, most notably from GOP opponent Marco Rubio, during the Republican debate in Detroit, Mich. in early March.
“[Rubio] referred to my hands — if they are small, something else must be small,” Trump said. “I guarantee you, there’s no problem.”
