New scholars join anti-abortion research group

The Susan B. Anthony List’s research arm has brought on six new associate scholars to help supply data on abortion, women’s health and other bioethical issues.

The Charlotte Lozier Institute, created in 2011 as an anti-abortion counterpart to the large, well-funded Guttmacher Institute, will announce the addition of experts that include two professors from evangelical universities, doctors and writers.

SBA List, a group that focuses on electing women who oppose abortion, established Charlotte Lozier with the intention that it would provide research to support the efforts of abortion opponents. The group is small, with just three full-time employees, but President Chuck Donovan said the new scholars will help it expand outreach and resources.

“Expanding our associate scholar team is part of the Lozier Institute’s commitment to providing groups, policy makers and journalists with high-quality, research-based information for the life issues, healthcare policy and related debates,” Donovan said in a statement provided to the Washington Examiner.

“We are honored to welcome these women and men of high accomplishment to our list of nearly two dozen experts covering the gamut of issues facing our legislatures, courts and culture,” he said.

The scholars include:

Scott Daniels: Adjunct professor at Liberty University, former deputy secretary of Health and Human Resources for Virginia.

Donna Harrison: Obstetrician and gynecologist, executive director of the American Association of Pro-life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, adjunct professor at Trinity International University.

Nora Sullivan: Writer and researcher published by the National Review, Daily Caller, the Catholic Thing and LifeNews.

Anna Higgins: Lawyer, former director of the Center for Human Dignity at the Family Research Council.

Father Kevin T. FitzGerald: Dr. David Lauler chair of Catholic Health Care Ethics in the Center for Clinical Bioethics at Georgetown University, associate professor in the Department of Oncology at the Georgetown University Medical Center, served as a member of the Health and Human Services Advisory Committee on Genetics, Health, and Society.

Sheila Page: Board certified in neuromusculoskeletal medicine and osteopathic manipulative therapy.
