Montel Williams serves it up for troops as Fisher House

Television personality Montel Williams put on his chef’s coat Thursday afternoon and cooked up a hearty meal for hundreds of wounded warriors at the Fisher House at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Williams, who spent 26 years in the Marine Corps and is also a board member for Fisher House, says he has been to six different Fisher House locations during the past year, just likes to “give back to the guys.”

“I was in the service for 26 years and why shouldn’t I be involved? A lot of people pay lip service to I support the troops, it’s about time people start putting their money where there mouth is,” the former talk show host told Yeas & Nays. Williams doesn’t show up to serve solo and always brings his father and sister along.

While the soldiers and their families are usually excited to see Williams, he thinks they may look forward to his father’s crab cakes even more. “Hands down, the word is out that my father makes the best crab cakes on the East Coast. Bar none. Most of the time all we have to do is put a sign up that says Herman’s crab cakes and we fill the house,” Williams laughed.
