Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley will head to Iowa after his expected May 30 campaign announcement, and plans to leave for events in New Hampshire the following day.
O’Malley has hinted he will formally launch his presidential campaign at the end of the month in Baltimore, the Washington Post reported.
A top official for the Democrat’s political action committee solicited donations of $20.16 in an email blast Friday that told supporters O’Malley was “really close to a very important decision, one that will transform the 2016 political landscape.”
Hours after O’Malley’s expected announcement in Baltimore, where he served as mayor for seven years, the former governor is slated for events in Des Moines and Davenport, the Associated Press reported.
O’Malley has made a series of trips to the Hawkeye State in preparation for his anticipated campaign.
He will join Sen. Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton as the third candidate for the Democratic nomination. Clinton is heavily favored to win the primary.
