James Carville surfaces on MSNBC after leaving Fox News

Democratic strategist James Carville sat in as a guest on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Tuesday less than a week after it was reported that his contributor contract with Fox News was terminated.

It was previously reported that Carville and Fox parted ways on a mutual agreement and a spokesperson for Carville told the Washington Examiner media desk that he wanted to “focus … on his daughters and teaching at Tulane University.”

Incidentally, Carville’s last appearance on Fox was on Oct. 30, 2014. That was the same day a report said that Carville would meet with Ready for Hillary organizers and other Democratic supporters for a “strategy session” related to presumed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Carville is a longtime friend of the Clintons and served as an adviser to Hillary’s 2008 presidential campaign.

Fox, like other news organizations, has rules prohibiting employees from engaging in partisan political activity. Carville’s professional relationship with the network lasted just less than a year.

A spokesperson for Carville denied that he is trying to land a contract with MSNBC and said that Carville’s appearance was intended to promote his year-old book (re-released in January in paperback) Love & War: Twenty Years, Three Presidents, Two Daughters and One Louisiana Home.

Other than a brief mention of the book’s title at the start of Carville’s “Morning Joe” segment, the conversation was devoid of any discussion related to it.

Carville remains a contributor to ABC News.
