The Republican chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence warned Sunday that the type of terror attacks launched by the Islamic State in recent months, including the ones on U.S. soil, could become more frequent thanks to the increasing radicalization around the world.
“What I am afraid of is that attacks like what you have seen in California or in Orlando will become the norm,” Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., told “Fox News Sunday.” “Jihadism from North Africa to the Philippines continues to grow.”
Nunes faulted the administration for its policy to confront the Islamic State, and said the destablization of Libya created another place where the terror group can grow.
He also said the administration was wrong to claim that the Islamic State was being contained. “I just wish the rhetoric the president used matched his actions,” he said.
