Hillary Clinton’s birthday may not be until Oct. 26, but her campaign is taking advantage to do some last-minute fundraising for this month’s filing deadline.
The Clinton campaign has sent out an ecard to supporters. Upon signing the card, they are asked to give a $1 donation to the Clinton campaign. The message consipicuously omits the fact that Clinton is celebrating her 68th birthday.
The $1 per person ask is a far cry from her usual big donations. Her main opponent in the primary, socialist Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, has catapulted his way to a lead in New Hampshire through small money donations, averaging $3 per person.
In addition to this birthday card, Clinton’s campaign has put all official campaign merchandise for sale 15% off between now and Sept. 30, in order to up sales before the deadline.
Clinton has declined in the polls in recent weeks as a result of developments from her emails scandal. Meanwhile, speculation that Vice President Joe Biden will enter the race has grown.
While Clinton’s team is quiet about which birthday she’s celebrating this year, she will be 69 on Election Day next year, older than any elected president besides Ronald Reagan. Clinton’s usual response to age questions is that no matter what she “will be the youngest woman president in the history of the United States.”
